My name is Mark Gallagher. I would like to introduce you to my new service, Mark Gallagher Investigations, based in Cairns.
 

I intend to provide a specialist investigative service to agencies with a particular focus towards those agencies’ response to more serious matters of misconduct and alleged corrupt conduct, including matters referred to by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

 

I have over 10 years’ experience in the assessment, review and investigation involving staff in State Government, Local Government, Owned Corporations, and non-government organisations. I have a further 30 years’ experience in investigation with the New South Wales Police, finishing at the rank of Detective Superintendent/Commander.
 

In February this year I completed 10 years with the CCC. In that time, I was involved in investigation review (from agencies submitting reports under Merit and Compliance and Public Interest Review regimes) and as a Senior Investigator investigating serious allegations.

 

In 2016, I spent twelve months in the Northern Territory as Senior Investigator for the Territory Ombudsman.

As a former Commander, I understood the importance of the role of the Decision Maker within a Human Resource context. This experience gives me the added ability to understand and manage the complexities and sensitive nature of workplace investigations.

 

As indicated, I have now relocated to Cairns on a permanent basis. I would anticipate this will allow me to work more closely with your agency and provide me ready access to witnesses and records. I can provide references in respect of my duties with the CCC as required. I look forward to discussing my services in the future.
